First let us introduce ourselves. We are Bob and Gail and we currently live in Southern Maine. At the beginning of this year Bob left his job with Verizon Wireless and I closed my long time on-line Amazon and eBay stores, Crystals And Trinkets.
Seven months into retirement we finally have our home of 21 years under contract with the hopes of everything going smoothly and close by the end of August 2019. From there – we will begin this blog with travel adventures in a fifth wheel we purchased in February and a move (hopefully) to the 55 Plus Community Oak Run in Ocala, Florida.
We should tell you that we are new to RVing. As of today, we have only camped in our RV in our driveway. This has enabled our two dogs, Mia and Bailey, to become accustomed to their new home in hopes they’ll be more comfortable with traveling. There will likely be many mishaps in our first camping trips.. My hope is to document our travels – both good and bad – and talk a bit about what we find helpful and useful. And of course – RV cooking recipes including easy Instant Pot recipes.
You may ask why we are targeting Oak Run in Ocala, Florida. Winter weather, obviously, being high on the list. Ocala is also in Northern Central Florida so hurricanes are usually diminishing by the time they hit that area – less destruction. The gated community of Oak Run in particular because of the low HOA fees, amenities, and home prices.
As we have not visited Oak Run, this is a tentative choice of communities. But also where I hope this blog will help others who are doing comparisons in the Ocala area. We’ve found very limited information on the communities – in particular why people like them and why they don’t, everyday cost of living expenses, etc. The good and the bad.
